The weight is substantial and adds to the functionality. The center post design works much better than common two-legged meditation benches.

This is my absolutely favorite meditation bench. I purchased it as a complete set with the magnetic cushion that goes on top and the plush pillow. I don't think I will ever find anything more elegant, functional, and comforting.
